Poglej Church is overhanging cave with a small cavern in the outskirts of village Poljšica near Zgornje Gorje. This natural cave was hollowed out when the Bohinj glacier retreated.
In the cave archaeologists found tools from the Stone Age, which proves the existence of early man in the Julian Alps even before the era of cultivation of land. The finds are dating back to the upper palaeolithic (10 to 12,000 BC). This is actually the oldest discovery of man living in this part of Slovenia. All found items are stored in the regional museum in the Bled Castle. During the excavations also a bronze coin and a bronze ring were found which date from later period of the Slavic settlements in these lands.
