St Oswald’s Church

The filial church in Spodnje Gorje is devoted to St Oswald, an English king who lived in the 7 century AD. The Church of St Oswald was first mentioned in 1501. In the past it was part of the Bled parish, the patron saint of which is St Martin; for that reason to this day a blessing takes place in the church on St Martin΄s Sunday in November. The bronze bells of St Oswald were removed during World War I and were later replaced with iron bells. In 2002 the efforts of local craftsmen enabled the remounting of the bronze bells.
