Unfortunately, the Vintgar Gorge is no longer open for visitors this season. If everything goes according to plan, we will open the gorge for viewing in April.
Let us offer you an alternative in which you will make a circle around the Vintgar gorge!
By car you can reach the parking lot in the village of Blejska Dobrava (parking lot next to the cemetery). Take a walk along the macadam road to the waterfall (be careful, it is forbidden to drive on all traffic on the macadam road, park in the marked and arranged parking lot). These days, the Šum waterfall is especially powerful and partially covered with ice. At the log cabin by the waterfall, climb to the church of St. Catherine. The ascent is very easy and well marked. At the church you will be inspired by a beautiful view of Bled. When the weather is nice, you can see all the way to Kranj. From here, follow the signs for entering Vintgar. The path will lead you through pasture, which can be a bit muddy. We suggest shoes that will not slip. When you reach the entry point into the Vintgar gorge, follow the path that runs parallel to the gorge in the direction of Bledska Dobrava. This trail will take you above the Vintgar gorge and is well marked. You will arrive in about half an hour. Continue back towards the parking lot at the cemetery.
The whole circuit is 8.6 km long and will take you about 3 hours.
